Closed Cell Foam Pad Mistakes in Cold Weather

Survival In The Forest
Cold ground pulls heat from your body faster than cold air.
This short explains how to properly use a closed cell foam sleeping pad in colder weather to reduce heat loss and stay warm.

A single closed cell foam pad has an R-value around 1.9, which is generally only good to about 60°F. But when you fold the pad, you effectively double the insulation to roughly R-value 4.0, making it usable down to about 30°F.
