A Shave Horse from One Log

In this episode I take a walk into the past. We examine how using a simple 6′ log and yield an invaluable homestead tool called a shave horse. A shave horse is a foot operated vise that is used to hold lumber in place so the user can carve it using a drawknife or spokeshave. This practice was common on the frontier and homesteads up until the early 1900’s.
